Midea, a global producer of smart home and lifestyle solutions, has unveiled the Midea Wave Range – a multi-functional free-standing oven that integrates microwave and graphene heating technologies, with emphasis on its applicability for compact European kitchens and efficient cooking. Key innovations and technical features include the incorporation of graphene heating tubes and integrated appliance design tailored to user needs in small domestic spaces.

The lower oven in the Wave Range uses graphene-enhanced heating tubes, which leverage graphene’s high thermal conductivity, electrical efficiency, and resilience at high temperatures. Laboratory assessments report that these tubes are capable of reaching temperatures up to 1300°C within 0.2 seconds, significantly reducing or eliminating traditional preheating times. This advancement could translate to shorter cooking durations and a reduction in energy usage, while the emission of near-infrared radiation facilitates uniform browning and moisture retention in food—a result said to be documented in comparative studies with conventional quartz and metal heating tubes.
